This is for all who are looking to move on up in their personal life, their job search, or in their career. It’s about building, enhancing & nourishing your personal and professional network before you ever need it.
It’s about thinking of others first, before yourself. It’s about – as former Pacific Bell CEO, Ed Mueller, used to describe these people – the ‘subscribers to life’.
I initially planned this site for people in transition, and much of the content will be directed to them. But it’s also about anyone interested in enjoying the satisfaction of meeting new people and the opportunities each new person in your network may bring.
Metcalfe’s Law states that the value of a network is proportional to the square of the number of connected users of the system. In other words, a network of 2 people is good, but they can only communicate with each other. (Think of the early telephone network – the first two people who had phones could only talk with each other. Each additional phone added to the network enhanced the value of the network.)
Our social networks have the same value. As we have more people in our networks that we can communicate with and share our joys, sorrows, and thoughts, (think Facebook, for example) we are building a community of people we care about and who in turn care about us.
I’m not talking about adding “friends” we don’t know, but people we’ve met, had conversations with and would like to stay in touch with.
This is about using the latest digital technology and social networks to connect and stay connected & to stand out. But it will always come down to people connecting with people.
Finally, this will be a shared journey & with success stories, so please feel free to contact me with yours or those you have heard of.
Now please – move on up!
